Predictive values of baseline plasma BNP levels for short-term clinical efficacy of acute heart failure patients with rhBNP treatment |

Abstract Objective To explore and analyze the predictive value of baseline plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels for short-term clinical efficacy of acute heart failure (AHF) patients with recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide (rhBNP) treatment. Methods From July 2015 to January 2018, 192 AHF patients treated with conventional therapies and rhBNP were retrospectively analyzed in our hospital. According to the short-time clinical effect of rhBNP, the patients were divided into the effective group and ineffective group. The baseline plasma BNP levels of all patients and rhBNP diuretic effect were analyzed and compared. Results There were 21 AHF patients (10.9%) with significantly effective treatment and 97 patients (50.5%) with generally effective treatment. The total efficacy rate was 61.5%. The patients were divided into the effective group (n=118) and ineffective group (n=74). The baseline plasma BNP levels of patients in ineffective group who had less diuretic effect was (1897.45±780.84) ng/L, significantly higher than that in effective group (P<0.05). After 24 h treatment of rhBNP, the efficacy of patients in the ineffective group was (408.75±315.47) mL, lower than that in effective group (P<0.05). The baseline plasma BNP levels were negatively correlated with the diuretic effect of rhBNP (r=-0.614,-0.530,-0.379, P<0.05). Conclusion The baseline plasma BNP levels could be the predictions of short-term clinical efficacy of acute heart failure patients treated with rhBNP, which is worthy of clinical attention.
