Abstract Objective To explore the relationship between glycemie control and 28一day mortality in critically ill patients in respiratory intensive care. Methods The present study included 64 patients with invasive mechanical ventilation who admitted to our Hospital RICU from January 2011 to December 2012.The patients were divided into survival group and the nonsurvival group. The APACHE II score on admission, the length of RICU stay, the total length of hospital stay and 28一day mortality, complications situation, the maximun and minimum level of daily blood glucose during the first week after the admission were recorded;and the relationship between glyeemic control and 28一day mortality were analyzed.Resultts ①The average peak blood glucose levels of survival group within the first week (12.61 mmoL/L)were lower than those in nonsurvival group(16.15 mmol/L)(P=0.048).②The average lowest blood glucose levels of survival group within a week(7.6 mmoL/L)were lower than those in nonsurvival group(10.0 mmol/L)(P=0.011 ).Conclusion For critically ill patients with invasive mechanical ventilation,if the patients were under good nutritional support, blood glucose levels should be controlled within 7.6—10.0 mmol/L.and peak blood sugar Ievels should not exceed 12.61 mmoL/L.
