Abstract Community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)is one of the most common infectious diseases in the emergency department and a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, which is a serious threat to human health. However, current antibacterial therapy for CAP is unsatisfactory, and the increase in antimicrobial resistance complicates treatment. With the development of pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics(PK/PD), application of PK/PD theory in development and optimization of antibacte⁃ rial dosing regimens is of crucial importance in the enhancement of success therapy, reduction of adverse effects, and minimization of resistance emergence. This paper introduced epidemiology of CAP and opti⁃ mization of antibacterial therapy for CAP under PK/PD theory by reviewing the related articles and com⁃ prehensive analysis.
