Abstract Objective To observe the early effects by different dose of Xuebijing Injection on NSE and S - 100 beta protein after cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) in rats. Methods 32 healthy SD rats aged 12 weeks weighting (300 ± 20)g were randomLy divided into 4 groups(n = 8 each). Group A (group operation - control): only intubated through the tracheal and the right femoral artery, saline 8 mL / kg were given after ROSC. Group B (group low dose ): saline 4 mL / kg + xuebijing 4 mL / kg were given after ROSC. Group C(group middle dose ): saline 2 mL / kg + xuebijing 6 mL / kg were given after ROSC. Group D ( group high dose ): xuebijing 8 mL / kg were given after ROSC. Time of CA and ROSC, ROSC proportion and the amount of saline and dopamine in 24 h were recorded . NSE and S - 100 beta protein were also measured 24 h later after ROSC. Results Compared with group A, the amount of saline and dopamine in 24 h, NSE and S - 100 beta protein were all lower in group B, C and D (P < 0. 05);Compared with group B, the amount of saline and dopamine in 24 h, NSE and S - 100 beta protein were all lower in groupC and D (P < 0. 05); but there were not significant difference in group C and D(P > 0. 05). Conclusion Xuebijing 6 mL / kg showed the excellent effect for the brain protection.
