Overcrowding in the emergency department has become an increasing significantly problem threatening worldwide public health. The phenomenon not only causes deterioration in the quality of health care，but also aggravates financial burden and patient dissatisfaction. Many experts have explored methods for dealing with emergency department overcrowding, but there are no effective strategies for this problem. This paper reviews solutions to emergency department overcrowding.
