Abstract Objective To explore the beta defense-2(BD-2)mRNA expression and interleu⁃ kin-2(IL-2)content in the peripheral blood of rats after tracheotomy. Methods All of 48 SPF health male SD rats were divided into two groups: normal control group(A)and model with tracheotomy tube (B). After successfully setting up the tracheotomy model, we collected the specimen 24 h, 72 h, and 168 h after drug administration. Peripheral blood was collected for the detection of BD- 2 mRNA expression and content of IL-2. Results ①The BD2 mRNA expression quantity decreased obviously in peripher⁃ al blood of rats after tracheotomy, especially at 24 h, the degree of decline slightly improved at the 72 h and 168 h. ②The IL-2 content did not change in peripheral blood of rats after tracheotomy. Conclusion The BD2 mRNA expression in the peripheral blood of rats is significantly increased after tracheot⁃ omy, and then it is compensatory increased, and subsequently continued to decline. It may suggest that the immune function of rats is low after tracheotomy.
