| Effect of L-carnitine on plasma H-FABP and 6MWT in emergency PCI patients due to acute myocardial infarction |

Abstract Objective: To explore the effect of L-carnitine on content of heart fatty acid binding protein(H-FABP)and the influence on the recent prognosis in acute myocardial infarction(AMI)patients with emergent PCI. Methods: A total of 102 AMI patients with PCI were randomly divided into two groups, one was routine treatment group: treated with routine therapy; another was L-carnitine treatment group: treated with L-carnitine every day on the basis of above routine treatment. H-FABP, CK-MB, cTnI concentrations, LVEF and 6-minute walk test(6MWT)were compared between the two groups. Results: The difference of plasma heart-type fatty acid-binding proteins(H-FABP), creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB), cardiac troponin I(cTnI)level and left ventricle ejection fraction(LVEF)was statistically significant(P＜0.05)in two groups. Walking distance evaluated by 6MWT was significantly higher in L-carnitine treatment group after three months of follow-up. 〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〓〖WTBZ〗L-carnitine shows protective effect against the ischemia injury in cardiomyocytes and improves cardiac function for the emergency PCI patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
