Abstract Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory reaction induced by infection, which can cause shock, multiple organ failure and even death. Severe sepsis often causes coagulation disorders, especially platelet quality and quantity changes. The role of platelets in sepsis pathogenesis remains unclear. The changes of platelet quality and quantity were significantly correlated with the severity and mortality of sepsis patients. The mechanism of platelet dysfunction also has the hotspot of nowadays research.
