The study of changes of serum HIS 5-HT and cytokine in patients with jellyfish sting |

Abstract Objective: To study the changes and clinical significance of the levels of serum histamine (HIS), 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with jellyfish sting. 〖WTHZ〗Methods〓〖WTBZ〗Eighty patients receiving treatment in the Beidaihe Hospital from July 2015 to August 2016 were divided into mild, moderate and severe sting group, and 28 healthy workers in the hospital were taken as normal control group. The levels of serum HIS, 5-HT, TNF-α and IL-6 were measured by ELISA, and the difference were analyzed. 〖WTHZ〗Results〓〖WTBZ〗The levels of serum HIS, 5-HT, TNF-α and IL-6 in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.01). The levels of serum HIS, 5-HT, TNF-α and IL-6 in the moderate and severe group were significantly higher than those in the mild group, with statistical significance (P<0.01). The levels of serum HIS, 5-HT, TNF-α and IL-6 in the severe group were significantly higher than those in the moderate group, with statistical significance (P<0.01), but there were no significant differences between the mild group and the control group (P>0.05). 〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〓〖WTBZ〗These results suggest that the higher the levels of serum HIS, 5-HT and cytokine, the severer degree of jellyfish sting. Early application of anti-inflammatory, anti-histamines may have important implication for improving the prognosis of patients with jellyfish sting.
