Abstract The current manuscript made a review regarding to up-to-date process in the field of diaphragmatic function monitoring among patients receiving mechanical ventilation. The authors discussed the prevalence of ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (VIDD), clinical assessment and invasive as well non-invasive evaluating approaches, and the utilization and efficacy of bedside ultrasound was also intensive addressed. So far there is still absent of the official consensus whether the ventilated patients need daily evaluation of diaphragmatic function, however it is not doubtful that along with the technology advances and portability improved, bedside non-invasive mode could be the main stream to archive more quickly weaning and recovery.
