Abstract Because of its high incidence,a very expensive hospital costs, and the lack of fast and effective treatment methods, sepsishas become one of the major causes of death in the intensive care unit (ICU). And in recent years, the study of gene regulation is also gradually expanding the scope, with respect to the further understanding of the pathogenesis of sepsis, people began to explore a new method for the treatment of sepsis in molecular level. Nuclear transcription factor NF - κB which is an important transcription factor can regulate the expression of inflammatory mediators when it is activated, and is closely related to septic lung injury. miRNA plays an important role in the post - transcriptional level, miRNA was discovered a long time ago, and achieved fruitful results in nearly a decade of research, especially in the body immunomodulatory、 sepsis and other infection - related diseases. Furthermore proteins which were modified and processed can also modulate the inflammatory response in sepsis. Due to the different methods and sites of protein modification, the regulation of inflammation are not the same. This paper reviewed the research focus and mechanism of action of gene regulation in sepsis, and provided a new direction for the study of sepsis treatment.
